Information Session: “Career Goal: HAW Professor”: Insights into Career Paths at Universities of Applied Sciences

What qualifications are required to become a professor at a university of applied sciences (HAW)? How does the appointment process work — and what is daily life like as a female professor? Answers to these questions will be provided at the information evening “Career Goal: HAW Professor, to which the LaKoF Bayern cordially invites you.
The online event will take place on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and is aimed at women at various stages of their careers: It is particularly geared toward women with and without a Ph.D. who have professional experience, Ph.D. candidates, Research Associates, and students who are interested in a career as a HAW professor.
Orientation and Insights into the Professional Field
During the information evening, participants will receive a comprehensive overview of the role of a HAW professor. Topics will include hiring requirements, the process of tenure-track appointments, and the specific demands and opportunities of this career path bridging academia and practice.
In addition, the event offers concrete tips and advice on career planning and highlights which qualifications and experiences are relevant for a successful application.
Exchange with experienced professors
A special feature of the event is the personal exchange: Following the informational session, participants have the opportunity to engage in conversation with experienced professors in small groups. This allows for individual questions to be asked and insights to be gained into different career paths as well as everyday professional life at universities of applied sciences.
