With the Women in Entrepreneurship Academy 2026, the German Center for Research and Innovation San Francisco is once again offering an international support program for female students and researchers from Germany who wish to further develop their entrepreneurial skills in the field of health and life sciences.
The English-language program combines eight weeks of online learning (May 12 – June 30, 2026) with the opportunity to qualify for a one-week stay in Silicon Valley (September 7–11, 2026). The goal is to support participants in transforming scientific ideas into viable business models and in networking within international innovation ecosystems.
Strengthening entrepreneurship skills for female scientists
The Academy is aimed at women affiliated with a German university or research institution — regardless of nationality — and aims to foster an entrepreneurial mindset and impart concrete skills for implementing their own ideas.
As part of the program, participants further develop their project ideas, validate business approaches, and gain a concise insight into key topics such as commercialization, financing, and pitching. The program is accompanied by digital learning modules, interactive sessions, and mentoring and exchange formats with experts from academia and industry.
International networking and insights into Silicon Valley
A special highlight is the opportunity to qualify for the in-person program in the Bay Area. Ten selected participants will travel to Silicon Valley in September 2026, where they will present their projects to investors and representatives from the startup scene. In addition, they will gain insights into companies and innovation institutions, as well as the opportunity to network with successful female founders with scientific backgrounds.
The program specifically promotes transatlantic exchange between the German and U.S. innovation ecosystems and opens up new perspectives for participants on career paths in science and entrepreneurship.
